I Want to Have that Toy! Now!

I’m always very happy when I find toys that are unique, brings out the creativity and of course ecological. Unfortunately, these three characteristics are not very often coexisting in one and the same toy. But at the online toy store EkoLeko I find plenty of just that; unique, creative and ecological toys! In addition to these great features all of their toys are also totally toxic free. Just check out my favorites here below; the lovely and completely compostable dolls from Aminaldolls, the extraordinary dress-up garments that can become everything from a cape or magician robe to a jacket or a tent, the beautiful wooden rattles, the solar powered toy helicopter.

Kinamockaskogen!

I just stumbled on this amazing new Swedish kid clothes label; Kinamockaskogen. I think these words from their online catalog say everything about the idea and concept behind their clothes: “Since the beginning the idea has been to make clothes that children love to wear and adults love to watch.” As simple as that! The label is brand new and the first collection is just launched. So, just look at those cute haremsuits, sweaters and hats and picture your toddler running around in it. I do!

Tooth-friendly Pacifier from Swedish Denty

My baby is just crazy about his pacifier! This last week it is practically glued onto his lips. As it makes him calm it really stresses me out to see that piece of plastic instead of his cherry-colored little mouth. He just had his first birthday so the dream scenario should be that he by now could survive without it, but he can’t. But here is some good news: he might not develop a cross bite and be in need of braces. I just find these funny-looking pacifiers from Swedish Denty with a whole new kind of nipple and made out of TPE rather than silicon and latex.

According to the makers of this pacifier it is tooth-friendly, hygienic and recyclable. On their website they describe their product as: “Denty GENUIN has a traditional design with a soft, thin, solid nipple. A thin nipple is gentle on your child’s teeth. The part between the nipple and the shield is broad and thin, which decreases the risk of developing an open bite. This design spreads pressure evenly on the front teeth, which decreases the need for braces later in life”.

I think I might try a Denty next time change his pacifier. Luckily, he is rather easy with what kind he puts in his mouth so it might work. I know I feel better knowing that he can safely continue to soothe himself a little bit longer without destroy his future smile. And to be honest, I think I like the odd look of them too!

Beautiful Patterns by Sandberg

I want to redecorate my oldest son’s bedroom. I think that children rooms should be colorful and happy and right now his room is just blue. I love patterns on walls, curtains and beddings and I find intended mismatching irresistible. But it takes time and energy to find the perfect color, wallpapers and curtains, and right now there are days it is even hard to find time for a shower. But today I did some successful web surfing and find Sandbergs fantastic children collection Kaspar & Saga. I love it! It is a collection of wallpapers and textiles that brings you directly into a fairytale. The patterns are inspired by pedagogic Swedish children TV shows from the 1970’s and encourage children to be curious and creative. What more do you want a room to “teach” your child?

Bonkeli: Children Clothes with Beauty and Soul

I really feel good about this post! It is fun to blog about something that is more than a product. The Swedish children clothing label Bonkeli has managed to create beautiful clothes that are completely environmental friendly as the garments are made from compostable cotton. Bonkeli explain there design strategy as a process in which they “avoid toxic emissions, chemicals on the skin, eliminating the waste and concludes thus a biological cycle.” In there online shop you can find both there totally eco-friendly and recyclable collection Cradle to Cradle and other garments that and all are made of ecological fabrics.

A Perfect Chair in a Perfect World

I'm not a big fan of plastic colourful children furniture but my son is. He likes those chairs and tables in bright colours that seem to scream "please little child play with me". If I could decide, but that right vanished when he turned 3 and got an opinion of his own, his next set of furniture would be made of wood and be classic but yet modern. I just came across Gärsnäs beautiful children chair Milla by awarded Swedish designer Åke Axelsson and I’m head-over-heels. This charming chair almost looks like someone’s handy grandfather has made it, but its functionality and impeccable details reveal that it is made by a master. I can really see it in my sons room next to the mountains of Lego and home made spaceships. But to have just one would be a pity, just see how beautifully they are piled up together!
